With more Australians holidaying locally, the demand for caravans and camper trailers is increasing.
But before you buy the new home away from home, you'll need a towbar to hook it up to. That's where TAG can help with a range of Australian-made towbars and accessories to suit your vehicle and towing needs. As manufacturers will set specific ratings for their vehicles, it is essential to understand what your car can safely tow. You can check the towing capacity in your car's owner manual.
Remember, the tow rating set by the vehicle manufacturer takes precedence over any towbar rating. Never exceed the towing capacity of your towbar or vehicle, and always refer to the towing specifications shown on the towbar compliance label and vehicle owner's manual.
Heavy-Duty (Class 4)
A TAG Heavy-Duty (Class 4) Towbar can tow up to 3500kg and have a ball weight of 350kg. These are more common on dual cabs or large SUV's.
The Heavy-Duty Towbar is also the most versatile in the range. You can remove the Tow Ball Mount from the 50mm receiver altogether, using a simple pin and clip set up. The 50mm square hitch receiver allows for a more extensive range of Tow Ball Mounts to be used and a range of bike carriers and accessories.
Select TAG Heavy-Duty Towbars are available also available in an Extended style suitable for vehicles with long traybacks or custom bodywork requiring additional coupling reach without a loss in towing capacity.
Standard Duty (Class 2)
A TAG Standard Duty (Class 2) Towbar is more common on smaller SUV's, sedans and hatchback vehicles. These are designed for smaller load ratings and utilise a Tow Ball Mount that bolts on from underneath. The Class 2 Towbar is a non-intrusive option for smaller vehicles that tow lighter loads on a more infrequent basis.
You can fit most towbars at home without the need for specialised tools. TAG Towbars include comprehensive fitting instructions and technical support if you need assistance.
Suppose you'd prefer to have someone fit your towbar for you, or your towbar installation is a bit more complex. In that case, TAG has a National network of professional installers to assist you.
